GrandVision is a global market leader in the optical industry, with more than 7,200 stores and a growing online presence.

In 2021, GrandVision once again asked us to renew their office environment. After the successful collaboration in 2015, the assignment this time was to transform an entire floor at The Base, Schiphol into a future-proof working environment where hybrid working, meeting, and collaboration are central.

From fixed workstations to hybrid working

The pandemic led to a new vision of working. The traditional model of fixed workstations made way for flexible settings in which agile working and hybrid collaboration became the norm. The fourth floor received a completely new layout with more openness, various meeting zones, and creative spaces for interaction.

Upon entering, you are welcomed by an inviting coffee corner with a seating area — the ideal place for an informal meeting or a shared start to the day. On the window side, there are smaller enclosed meeting rooms with seated and standing areas for 4 to 6 people. In the heart of the floor, several collaboration areas have been created:

  • A high standing table with a screen for virtual meetings
  • A large dining table with acoustic lighting, perfect for teamwork
  • A café zone with playful blue, transparent writing panels to capture ideas

Acoustic walls and a custom cabinet with an integrated screen create clear zoning without losing the open character of the space.

Focus and training | In addition to collaboration, there is also space for concentration. Several focus rooms have been created for one-on-one conversations and online meetings. In addition, two training rooms were added, one of which can be flexibly arranged for different group sizes and ways of working.

A future-proof concept | The design embodies the essence of hybrid working: flexibility, connection, and functionality. By combining different ways of working with a warm, welcoming atmosphere, the fourth floor of GrandVision has become a place where employees meet, exchange ideas, and work together to build the future of the organization.
